Hiccups

First Bath

Tyson and I were trying to keep Sawyer awake one night so we decided to give him his first bath. His umbilical cord had not fallen off yet so we could only sponge him down. He was not a huge fan of the tub but mostly because he hates being cold. I have to say it was fun washing all his hair. When I was drying him off all his hair stood straight up....SO CUTE. Here are a few pictures. :-)

Special Moment

Friday night after the baby was born Rich and Shirley brought all the kids to visit us and meet Sawyer. I felt like I was in a time warp. I met Rich when I was 7 years old and I think I met Shirley around age 9. I started babysitting Katlyn when she was a newborn baby. Seeing the kids hold my son was unreal. I went through an old scrapbook and found pictures of me holding the kids when they were just born. I couldn't find the picture I have of me and Katlyn so the one of us is from her 1st birthday. I am so blessed to have these dear ones in my life still after all these years.

Visitors

It was fun having friends come to visit us in the hospital. I must admit I was exausted but I loved seeing my friends holding my son. :-)

Our Baby Story

I called the hospital on Thursday the 4th at 5:30 am and they said come on in at 6:30am. The anticipation was at an all time high! We listened to Christmas music on the way and I kept thinking it's amazing that we are going to have a baby here soon....Well they started my patocin drip at 6:30am you will all be happy to know I did not pass out when set up my iv. The Dr. came in at 8:00am and broke my water.
Tyson checking the monitor. :-) It was a long first few hours.
I will spare you all the details but it became unpleasant at this point. The contractions were intense but all I can say is I have the most amazing husband. Tyson was by my side the entire time encouraging, praying, and just breathing with me. I was terrified to get an epidural so I was trying to go as far as I could the natural way. Tyson was my champion! I got to the point I couldn't take it anymore and Tyson was able to encourage me and calm my fear of the epidural. I really wanted to get one but getting over the thought of a needle into my spine was rough. It took 45 minutes to actually get the epidural and then life was great! They checked me and I was already at 7cm. Paul and Jesse arrived at the hospital to see how things were going. After the epidural I saw them and for a little while. Matt and Kristi came to see us and it was nice to be able to chat with them. :-)

Waiting in faithfully! :-)
At midnight I had finally made it to 10cm!! Little did I know I still had a few hours left to go. 2 and a half hours later baby boy arrived on the scene. It was a long delivery. He was face up and stuck...Several times they offered me a c-section. At that point I was determined to have the baby the normal way. I was already torn and did not want to have double recovery. After lots of prayer and pushing he finally arrived. It was not a pretty sight and I ask you all to keep me in prayer. I had a 4th degree tear which means I tore all the way through. But he was worth it all. To see my son for the first time was amazing. I am so overwhelmed by God's goodness to me. Tyson got to watch the entire thing and he said it was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. Birth is a miracle. The dr. let him cut the cord. :-) It took about 45 minutes to stitch me back up and then everyone got to come in and meet our little boy. It was great that they all stayed and waited so long. Sawyer didn't arrive until 2:24 am so by the time they could all come in it was 3:30am.

Tyson and our Dr.

Tyson's mom called from Thailand literally one minute after the baby was born. It was PERFECT! I was so happy she called. She was able to hear the babies first cries.
